When you think of the "Ford Focus" what will usually come to mind for Ford enthusiasts is quality, stability and lots of history. The Focus has been one of the premier vehicles of the Ford line for over ten years. It is an important car and the 2000 model is no exception. The Ford Focus falls into the sedan for the family category.

2000 Ford Focus LX Specs

Standard equipment in the Focus for 1999 and 2000 includes the 2.0 liter engine by Ford, weighing in at 4 cylinders and eight valves. A 4-speed Automatic Transaxle puts the power of the engine to the pavement. The has proven to be a popular configuration for the Focus.

The Focus uses power-assisted brakes, with Non-ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are drum. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The car uses coil and coil springs front and rear respectively.

The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $15,260 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of $14,172. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 4-door Sedan.

MPG Ratings

The Focus LX received a miles-per-gallon rating of 25 - 26 in-city driving and 32 - 33 when it came to highway driving. Being a gas-powered non-hybrid car, this was within normal parameters.

What We Think of the Ford Focus

There are several reasons why the Ford Focus LX sold well in 2000. Mainly the increase in availability and a marked improvement in quality meant the buying public was more apt to choose a Ford, specifically a Focus.
