The Ford Focus ZTS for 2000: Improving on 1999

Ford Focus

The restyled Focus ZTS is equipped with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that utilizes 16 valves. The Zetec engine is mated to a Ford five-speed transaxle. This has resulted in an increase in horsepower and torque over the 1999 version.

Steering control is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The Focus comes equipped with power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are drum. The car uses coil front springs and coil in the rear.

Vehicle Statistics

The Focus is 174.90 inches long, 66.90 inches wide, and 56.30 inches high. It has a wheelbase of 103.00 inches. It is able to seat 5 comfortably.

The standard warranty period for the Focus is 36 months, or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. This is standard in the sedan market.

The listed retail price in 2000 (MSRP) was $15,260, with a dealer invoice cost of $14,172. This price is on target the industry average price for a four-door Sedan.

Fuel Efficiency

For the 2000 Focus, the fuel configuration is a electronic SFI, using gasoline for fuel. A fuel-injected MFI configuration. The gas tank holds 13.20 gallons.

The Focus ZTS received a miles-per-gallon rating of 25 - 26 in-city driving and 32 - 33 when it came to highway driving. Being a gas-powered non-hybrid car, this was exceptional.

We Think...

The 2000 model year was telling year for the Ford Focus. The introduction of several trim levels (along with the ZTS version) meant that buyers could find the version that best suited their needs.
