A Better 1994's Model: The 1995 Mazda Miata M Edition

A lot has been said about the Mazda Miata for 1995. As Mazda's entry in the convertible market the Miata (and in this case specically the M Edition version) has maintained a solid reputation. The 2-door Miata is especially appealing to wide market segment, making it a perfect car to help Mazda as a brand in general.

Performance

The Miata M Edition is equipped with a Mazda 1.8 liter four-cylinder engine that utilizes 16 valves. The engine is mated to a Jatco 4-speed Transmission. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Mazda.

The Miata uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The car uses coil and coil springs front and rear respectively.

For the 1995 Miata, the fuel delivery system is a electronic MPI, using gasoline for fuel. A fuel-injected MFI configuration. The gas tank holds 15.50 gallons.

Miata M Edition Statistics

The Miata is 184.40 inches long, 68.90 inches wide, and 53.90 inches high. It has a wheelbase of 102.80 inches. It is able to seat 5 comfortably.

A powertrain warranty is provided (50,000* miles/36* months), and a 50,000* mile, 60* month guarantee also comes with the Mazda Miata.

The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $15,115 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of an industry-average price. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 2-door Convertible.

Fuel Efficiency

The 1995 Miata gets 31 - 34 miles/gallon on the highway and only 23 - 26 in the city. This is average for a convertible car.

In 1994 and 1995 the Miata M Edition was availble in the exterior colors of several colors.

In Summary

The 1994 model began the promise of the Mazda Miata. The 1995 expanded on this success and has proven to be a strong seller in most markets. Even with strong competition from other manufacturers Mazda hopes that the Miata M Edition will continue to be a profitable vehicle.
