First Impressions of the Ford Mustang for 1994

In 1994 Ford released the Mustang GT to the car-buying market. The Mustang came in three configurations: SVT Cobra, GT, and Base. The GT configuration is powered by the 5.0-liter eight-cylinder engine, which makes 29 - 30 highway miles and 19 - 20 city. The Mustang competes in the Coupe market segment, in direct competition with Infiniti.

Ford Mustang Engine Specs: The Mustang GT comes outfitted with a HO 5.0 liter, 8-cylinder motor that uses 16 valves. The engine, manufactured by Ford, is teamed up with a Borg Warner 5-speed transmission. This arrangement has demonstrated to be an effective style for Ford.

The Mustang uses power-assisted brakes, with Non-ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The car uses coil and coil springs front and rear respectively.

The fuel system for the 1994 Mustang is a SFI design, running on gasoline fuel. The fuel flow is regulated by a electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The storage capacity of the fuel tank is 15.40 gallons.

The dimensions of the Mustang GT are 71.80 inches wide by 181.50 inches long. It sits a comfortable 52.90 inches off the ground. It seats a standard four passengers, with 2 doors. The wheelbase of 101.30 allows for limited leg room for the backseat passengers.

The standard warranty period for the Mustang is 60* months, or 50,000* miles, whichever comes first. This is standard in the coupe market.

The listed retail price in 1994 (MSRP) was $13,695, with an invoice cost of an industry-high price. This price is above average of the industry average price for a two-door Coupe.

Fuel Efficiency

The 1994 Mustang gets 29 - 30 miles/gallon on the highway and only 19 - 20 in the city. This is exceptional for a coupe car.

In 1993 and 1994 the Mustang GT was availble in the exterior colors of several colors. Additional options were made available by the factory.

We Think...

The 1993 model began the promise of the Ford Mustang. The 1994 expanded on this success and has proven to be a strong seller in most markets. Even with strong competition from other manufacturers Ford hopes that the Mustang GT will continue to be a profitable vehicle.
