The Chevrolet Monte Carlo LS for 2002

Chevrolet Monte Carlo

The Monte Carlo LS is equipped with a General Motors 3.4 liter six-cylinder engine that utilizes 12 valves. The Chevrolet engine is mated to a General Motors 4-speed Transaxle. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Chevrolet.

The Monte Carlo uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The car uses coil and coil springs front and rear respectively.

Monte Carlo LS Statistics

The dimensions of the Monte Carlo LS are 72.30 inches wide by 197.90 inches long. It sits a comfortable 55.20 inches off the ground. It seats a standard five passengers, with 2 doors. The wheelbase of 110.50 allows for limited leg room for the backseat passengers.

The standard warranty period for the Monte Carlo is 36 months, or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. This is standard in the coupe market.

The listed retail price in 2002 (MSRP) was $20,425, with an invoice cost of $18,689. This price is slightly higher than the industry average price for a two-door Coupe.

Fuel Efficiency

The fuel system for the 2002 Monte Carlo is a SFI design, running on gasoline fuel. The fuel flow is regulated by a electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The storage capacity of the fuel tank is 17.00 gallons.

The Monte Carlo LS received a miles-per-gallon rating of twenty one in-city driving and thirty two when it came to long-distance. Being a gas-powered non-green car, this was subpar.

In Summary

There are several reasons why the Chevrolet Monte Carlo LS sold well in 2002. Mainly the increase in availability and a marked improvement in quality meant the buying public was more apt to choose a Chevrolet, specifically a Monte Carlo.
