The Chevrolet Monte Carlo LS for 2000

The restyled Monte Carlo LS is equipped with a 3.4-liter six-cylinder engine that utilizes 12 valves. The Chevrolet engine is mated to a General Motors four-speed transaxle. This has resulted in an increase in horsepower and torque over the 1999 version.
The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The Monte Carlo uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. Load balancing is provided by coil front springs and coil in the rear.
Vehicle Statistics
The dimensions of the Monte Carlo LS are 72.70 inches wide by 197.90 inches long. It sits 55.20 inches off the ground. It seats a standard five passengers, with 2 doors. The wheelbase of 110.50 allows for extra leg room for the rear passengers.
The standard warranty period for the Monte Carlo is 36 months, or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. There is also a warranty on the powertrain for 36 months or 36,000 miles respectively. This is standard in the coupe market.
The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $19,390 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of $17,742. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 2-door Coupe.
Fuel Efficiency
The 2000 Monte Carlo's exceptional fuel system runs on gas. The fuel is regulated electronically, with a fuel-injected multi-port fuel injection style of design. The fuel capacity of the car is 17.00 gallons.
The 2000 Monte Carlo gets 32 miles/gallon on the highway and only 20 in the city. This is subpar for a coupe car.
We Think...
There are several reasons why the Chevrolet Monte Carlo LS sold well in 2000. Mainly the increase in availability and a marked improvement in quality meant the buying public was more apt to choose a Chevrolet, specifically a Monte Carlo.
