A Better 2002's Model: The Chevrolet Monte Carlo for 2003

Chevrolet has been blessed with many award-winning designs, including the Chevrolet Monte Carlo of 2003. There are six trim levels to the Monte Carlo, including LS, LS Competition, LS Sport, SS, SS High Sport, and SS Pace Car. The LS Sport version is one of the more popular options. Like in 2002 the popular 3.4 liter Chevrolet has made this a popular choice for coupe buyers around the world.
Performance
The restyled Monte Carlo LS Sport is equipped with a General Motors 3.4-liter 6-cylinder engine that utilizes a total of 12 valves. The Chevrolet engine is paired with a General Motors 4-speed transaxle. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Chevrolet.
Steering control is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The Monte Carlo has power-assisted brakes, with Non-ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. The car uses coil front springs and coil in the rear.
The fuel system for the 2003 Monte Carlo is a traditional SFI, running on gasoline fuel. The fuel is controlled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The capacity of the fuel tank is 17.00 gallons.
Monte Carlo LS Sport Statistics
The dimensions of the Monte Carlo LS Sport are 72.30 inches wide by 197.90 inches long. It sits a comfortable 55.20 inches off the ground. It seats a standard five passengers, with 2 doors. The wheelbase of 110.50 allows for limited leg room for the backseat passengers.
A powertrain warranty is provided (36,000 miles/36 months), and a 36,000 mile, 36 month guarantee also comes with the Chevrolet Monte Carlo.
The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $23,560 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of $21,557. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 2-door Coupe.
Fuel Efficiency
The Monte Carlo LS Sport received a miles-per-gallon rating of nineteen in-city driving and twenty nine when it came to long-distance. Being a gas-powered non-green car, this was subpar.
In 2002 and 2003 the Monte Carlo LS Sport was availble in the exterior colors of Berry Red Metallic, Black, Black/Galaxy Silver Metallic, Bronzemist Metallic, Cappuccino Frost Metallic, Competition Yellow, Competition Yellow/Galaxy Silver Metallic, Galaxy Silver Metallic, Sandrift Metallic, Superior Blue, Superior Blue/Galaxy Silver Metallic, Victory Red, Victory Red/Galaxy Silver Metallic, White, and White/Galaxy Silver Metallic.
Conclusion
The 2003 model year was unsuccessful for the Chevrolet Monte Carlo. The introduction of several trim levels (along with the LS Sport version) meant that buyers had several options to choose from..
